Experience: (Too much to list details)

May2016 to Present:

Sr. Principal SW Engineer / Architect Palo Alto Networks

Senior leadership role bringing out new Next Gen Firewall platforms. Led the development of new High End heavy distributed processing chassis based system. Also took responsibility and handled the toughest field issues across all (scalable/legacy) product lines.

I was THE key Platform SW Engineer for cleaning out most/many previous released Firewall platform bugs, with Quality/Maintainability improvements to greatly impact the company success and growth. As well as a key developer for many new Platform/Features coming out during my tenure.

January 2007 to May 2016:

Owner/Chief Engineer Moore Performance Systems LLC, (MPS). www.mpsos.com

Primarily an Engineering Services business, with expertise around High Performance Multicore Processors, and complex HW offload Engines. Ran all aspects of the business, and provided most of the complex services. Services expanded to general Platform Layer SW. Lots of new board services. Though original niche was the MIPS based RMI XLR/XLS/XLP. Quickly expanded to MIPS based Cavium Octeon, Intel processors and network switch Hardware. Near the end, there were also projects around Java, JVM-internals, Cloud and Intel SGX research and solutions.

Too many projects to list. Many new board/system services. Many systems integration services. Many PCIe related solutions such as rewriting the OS enumeration functions for specific features. Many network/security solutions. A lot of complex problem resolution. Mostly platform layer work, with some later Java, JVM-internals work with Cloud computing.

May2005 to December 2006:

Sales Support - Field Application Engineer, Raza Microelectronics Inc, (RMI). Support HW Multi/Hyper-thread XLR 8 MIPS Core SOC with HW Accelerators, (IPSEC, Network Packet Parsing and Distribution, Load Balancing, Deep Packet Inspection) and Message based HW/SW model.

I focused on the reference SW we provided to our customers to help them program and best utilize the powerful XLR. Technical skills acquired on this job include detailed knowledge of SMP architecture, Linux, IPSEC, and many current Open Source Network Tools and Applications.

I provided Technical Sales presentations, Customer training, and helped resolve customer issues.

This position was a very interesting break from many sequential years of pure SW development, and very good for my development of business and sales experience.

March99 to Apr2005

Tech Lead / SW Engineer, Cisco Systems. Lead on the Line Card Control Plane SW on the HFR/CRS, (World's Fastest Router). As one of the first SW engineers on the Project, I was quickly promoted to Tech Lead and defined much of the Line Card Control Plane Architecture in this heavily distributed processing environment. I wrote the Gateway ASIC driver that interfaced to 8 other ASICs, and handled all packets, (both network and control), in and out of the Line Card PPC Processors. I also defined much of SW architecture for the Distributed Processing LineCards, and other Line Card Platform and ASIC Drivers.

June97 to March99

SW Engineer, Pipelinks (startup). As an early SW engineer I helped set the direction of the product, then single-handedly ported Cisco IOS SW to the Pipelinks HW Platform. As the sole OS engineer, I also took a lead role for all HW driver bringup, and supported the rest of the team while they deployed Protocols and Features. Pipelinks was acquired by Cisco in 1999.

June94 to June97

SW Engineer, Network Equipment Technologies, (NET). Mainly worked on a Cisco compatible integrated router, that ran Cisco IOS. Defined and deployed a static test network with procedures to test all Cisco supported protocols. Did sustaining work on the existing product and helped port and deploy a follow-on Cisco compatible Integrated router. As a member, and later lead, of a small team, I worked on all aspects of Cisco IOS. I also helped extensively with problem determination on the Frame Relay and Access product lines. Represented NET at Frame Relay Forum.

August83 to June94

SW / Firmware engineer, Amdahl Corporation. Over my 11 years at Amdahl in the IBM compatible Mainframe industry, I worked my way up from a general Field Engineer to HQ International Support, and then straddled HQ Support and Firmware engineering on the Front End Processor line, (IBM compatible Network Controller). All SW was in Assembler. During this time I was a student of IBM Architecture. As a top Mainframe I/O expert, and Mainframe Networking expert, I resolved Amdahl's most critical and complex International issues.

I worked my way up to the top of my profession by hard work and constant self-training. I studied all aspects of Mainframe architecture and also PC architecture and programming when the low cost Clones hit the market. I wrote hundreds of hours of PC SW as a hobby.

I was brought up the ranks at Amdahl quickly after I began writing my own Online Diagnostic/debug SW to resolve field problems that the company had not been able to resolve.

March82 to August83

Field Service, Memorex Corporation. Introduction to the Mainframe industry by maintaining and servicing IBM compatible peripheral devices. This job is where I realized the potential of becoming an IBM Mainframe I/O expert, and started my studies of IBM Architecture.

June81 to March82

Field Service, GTE. Held TS/SI clearance in the U.S. Navy, and I was deployed by GTE to work in Secure Spaces on Sensitive systems deployed by the Government and Military.

June75 to June81

Electronic Technician, (Crypto and Communication Maintenance), US Navy. Maintained, Supported, and Troubleshot Top Secret Data acquisition Systems from System to component level.

Top Receiver Tech. Used Sweep Generators, Signal Generators, and other equipment to analyze, maintain, and repair Communication Systems, Receivers, Tape Recording devices, and User interface Signal analysis equipment. Had 2 years of Basic Electronics and System Training before working for 4 years in the field at Naval Security Group Activities, (NSA). Passed the full Background Investigation and Received Top Secret Special Intelligence Security Clearance prior to Systems training and Field work.

Education:

Pete has worked at the Master or above degree level, for more than 30years, and can confidently say he is Masters Degree or above equivalent. This all started in the 80s, when Pete was a student of IBM Mainframe architecture, and self trained on all aspects. This combined with night college classes of programming and math, on the job, and industry system training, allowed Pete to be at the top of his field by 1988.

Pete still constantly self trains today, while taking on the most complex aspects of projects, and delivering solutions.

2005: Received Java Expert and XML expert certifications after completing over 40hours at

SJSU Professional Development formal training. I took these classes to broaden my

technology understanding and skills.

1984 - 1989: Over 50 units of night College focused on Math and Programming, with straight A's.

1981 - : Thousands of hours of Industry Training over my 30+ year post-navy career.
